Hanover New Hampshire

Welcome to Hanover, New Hampshire

Money Magazine calls Hanover one of the “Best Places to Live in America” and with good reason. Nestled in New Hampshire’s quaint Upper Valley on the picturesque Vermont border, this lively enclave literally has a river that runs through it, classic colonial architecture, renowned farm-to-table dining options, upscale shopping and is home to the prestigious Ivy League Dartmouth College, established in 1769 and chartered before the American Revolution. The College’s presence, along with the associate Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, add serious cultural, lifestyle and healthcare amenities to the small town vibe.

Hanover was chartered by Governor Benning Wentworth on July 4, 1761, and in 1765–1766 its first European inhabitants arrived, the majority from Connecticut. The Dresden School District, an interstate school district serving both Hanover and Norwich, Vermont—was the first and one of the few interstate school districts in the nation.

From fine dining at the Hanover Inn, skiing at the nearby Dartmouth Skiway or taking in a late fall football game, Hanover offers some of the best that Upper Valley living has to offer.
